The Second and Thus Less Renowned University Post

One of the best things about Conrad Grebel is that it has a really cool atrium in which I can sit on big leather chairs. That is where I am as I write this. I don't think this will be a place where I will usually write stuff though, as I have to sort of lean forward alot. You will probubly be getting alot more information from the Bunker.
I didn't tell you this last time, but while I am at University I am going to read Balzac's Human Comedy in it's entirity. I found a copy of most of them at the Dana Porter Library and will be starting the first book sometime in the future I hope. This is a pretty hefty undertaking for me as the Human Comedy is a pretty long series. Hopefully I'll be done by the end of my tenure at University.
Also I've got some good news. I've found a club that I would be interested in. It's the Waterloo Science Fiction club, and also seems to be the local place for all your RPG needs on campus. It costs ten dollars per semester to sign up, and it has a library of science fiction books and RPG related thingies. I alraedy told the guys, who called me Shep for some reason, that I'll be working on a campaign setting for World of Darkness, which will be my first time outside of the d20 system. I'm working on my whole conspiracy-thoery thing, which I think could be easily compatible with the world, since the entire thing about the Organization is it's about various groups working more or less together in a syncretic pattern, but I'm going to have to make the theology in the game more accurate because it's really pop culture type stuff.

Nobody came to my party

Today a bunch of kids from school were supposed to maybe come over and watch Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain and eat chips. They didn't come, which admittedly they said would be an option. Still, I feel sad because for a second there I thought I'd actually have social interaction. Instead I'm just sitting here eating ketchup chips. I just felt I should mention this, but I have nothing else to say right now about it.

I'm an Urban Achiever!

Recently I put a link up to the Lebowski Podcast. For those of you who haven't looked at it yet it's under cool stuff. It's basically a pod cast a bunch of people do about the Big Lebowski. Anyway, the folks at the Lebowski podcast said they'd appreciate it if their listeners to link to their website so more people will know about it, so I did it. And then I got this.

Aspie Diaries -I noticed you've linked to us from your blog. Thanks for
helping us get the word out. I've added you to our list of friends on the
web site. You can find it here - http://lebowskipodcast.com/index.php/Links/Lebowski-Podcast-Friends/
.

So know the Lebowski Podcast people are linked to me. I thanked them and so know other Lebowski fans can come to my blog, even though I don't talk about the Big Lebowski that much.

Practically out

Well, as you know I have been feeling very small and lonely. You'll be pleased to hear that I have exponetially increased my MSN contacts. Bad news is that nobody is on at the moment.
In the meanwhile, I'll be officially out of school by Friday afternoon. I just need to get my co-op project done, which it half is already. I am feeling very good about myself today. I plan on having a big celebration after getting out of school. I'm going to see if I can talk my mom into driving me to a used bookstore and seeing if I can't get myself the first book of the Illuminatus trilogy.
I just have to get my exam done in History and then I'm set. I'm not overly worried about it, because I feel I got it under control. Still, this isn't my best class. I'm going to have to look over the French Revolution and the reign of Napoleon.
I'm really enjoying Last.fm. Again, thanks to Dan for introducing me. I just found all these cool examples of tracks by genres. I'm going through surf rock at the moment. I'm liseaning to a really cool version of "Walking on the Moon," by somebody called getAmped. But then when I clicked on it to see who they were I lost track of the thing. Curses. So, last.fm isn't perfect.
I can't write anymore, I'm going to go hide in my room

I made a new friend and then I wrote this

Good news, I met a new friend Thursday at my co-op at the Museum. As I don't know how she feels about having her name blabbed on my blog, she will have no other identity beyond that Chinese girl I met and became friends with at the co-op, or my new friend for short. We had a brief conversation about work and our lives and exchanged numbers and stuff like that. She has a face book account, which I have been hearing about a lot these days. We exchanged contact information and such. I don't know if we're actually friends yet, but it's nice to have the possibility of a friend, and this looks promising.
School is still frustrating. Things keep piling up, because I'm lazy and that's just how I am. Big mistake, I know, but I just don't care about a lot of things. I don't have the same drive as other people. Maybe it's because my priorities tend towards to my writing.
On the subject of writing, I have been working the idea for Mythania around in my head. Many of my long-time readers and friends would remember that Mythania is my personal Middle-Earth. Well, since I have been working on the Family 48 time line and the world of Naos and Helen, I have had little time to actually work on how Mythania works, even though I am fairly certain that it is more important then Family 48 or whatever I may come up with for Naos and Helen. Recently, I have been brain storming Mythania. One of the inspirations is the Forgotten Realms for Dungeons and Dragons. I want to write a big book about Mythania that's like my Forgotten Realms handbook, detailing all the natives, countries, gods and environments of Mythania. It would also have all the information that you'd get in other books, more detailed looks at the Gods, more detail on countries, stuff like that. For plot elements, I seem to be feeling I should do something like the Mahabharata. The Mahabharata is a major Indian epic that has enormous cultural import to India. Imagine if you combined the New Testament and Lord of the Rings into the same book and that would probably be the Western version of the Mahabharata. I haven't actually read the Mahabharata, but I have an idea of the story. I'm also working plot elements into a future novel, where two of the major characters talk about how the universe works right before the apocalypse. It's an allusion to the Bhagavard Gita, which Hindus consider a really important book. So, despite the fact I have yet to read this book, it is probably a big influence on my career. I really should find a copy at some point. I also plan on just using this as an inspiration for the plot.
I've also been thinking about using stuff about Naos and Helen in other works, while there still mortal and have the chance to make mistakes and be more interesting protagonists. The only thing is I'm not sure how to actually work that. I may write a sequel to The Last Dance Revolution, dealing with themes of Religious Extremism. The only problem is I'm not sure I want to write a sequel to the Last Dance Revolution any time soon. I may try writing one ten years from now, but I don't see it as something I really need to write. I'm also thinking I should do something about Naos and Helen in a world slightly different then there last one. I've been having this weird idea of Naos and Helen in something like Yellow Submarine. If I ever get into film making I may try that, but I think I'll just write it as a minor novel I can but into the Naos and Helen series. I've also thought of writing something were Naos and Helen are the antagonists, which I think would be interesting because I tend to caste them as Revolutionary Heroes or Gods. It would also be interesting to write something from the perspective of someone outside my own belief systems.
I'm wondering if Naos and Helen are becoming Mary Sue characters, If I'm caring way to much about them and leaving my other characters without as much detail. I've got at least Four novel ideas about them already, and they've worked there way into Family 48 and Mythania (though admittedly they do not take as much part in the Mythania Chronicles). I'm not sure if they are actually Mary Sue characters, since they don't meet all the criteria. For one thing they have flaws. Naos is an emotional hurricane with a few mental problems and can be a real jerk sometimes, again inspired by me. Helen while generally being more stable then Naos can be a real bitch sometimes. Also, I tend to drag them through a lot of stuff. In The Last Dance Revolution alone I drag them through hell and I'm going to do a lot more then that in Family 48. Still, they tend to come out on top, because I really like these characters. I want them to be happy and have a good life and have many fat children, but I do tend to beat up on them, at least in the stories I have planned for them. I've gotten this idea recently of Helen finding out about my existance and as I had just recently screwed her life up, she decides to try and kill me. I'm not sure how she's going to go about doing this, but I plan on working it into the end of the Saga of Family 48.

A post that I think is the first for Feburary 2007 that ends suddenly

I'm writing this at the public library. Why I'm telling you this I have no idea, but I feel you need to now. My usual computer is being naughty and won't let me go on the Internet, and the other one I just down right hate because it's to slow. Oh, Steph, this is for you, I probubly can't get to you anytime soon because of this. I'll be calling relatives in to fix it as soon as possible. So, I came to the library and am now writing it from here. I'm feeling that this is going to be a stream of consciousness post, because I seem to be in that mood.
So, today I met with the Employment Specialist, you know, the one from LEADS, the government organization that helps aspies get jobs. Well, it looks like I'll be getting a job at the local Rogers. The basic idea is for me to stock shelves and help people find movies. Shouldn't be to hard.
So, just after the Employment Specialist left, I joined a conversation with some local kids from my school. They seem like really nice people and I've had minor encounters with them before. The conversation was mainly about artistic stuff, and creating worlds. I didn't bring up Mythania, which I probubly should have. I really liked hanging out with them, if only for the conversation was interesting and I liked the way they dress. Don't really know how to describe it, I think the male one called the style "Fashion Whore," which I think means being a slave to a certain style of fashion. I think I may have that, though I don't seem to go for the style they go for. I really should try and describe it sometime, it would make a good writing practise.
So, I am now in a new semester. Here is what I am taking...
  • English, Writer's Craft, A class were I get to write and stuff like that. I havn't written anything of great importance, but I do plan on bringing my novel in sometime to show off. Kind of to say "Look at me, I'm writing a novel."
  • History Renaissaunce to modern era, Also fun, we're learning about the Renaissaunce. We saw a movie on the Medici family, which basically funded the Renaissaunce. The one guy, Cosimo de Medici glowered at the camera for the entire movie. "I'm Cosimo de Medici. Grr."
  • Co-op, I get a job without pay, but with experience. It looks like I'll be working at a local museaum, which should be kind of fun. This cource is two periods long.
So, that's about it, except for a list I just thought off. It's basically all the traits I would like to have from other writers. There are other aspects of these writers, mostly style, but I'll put other things on the list. These are just the important things.
  1. The Wit of Oscar Wilde, Oscar Wilde is really cool, and I'd like to be able to go to parties and just be generally witty. I think I have some degree of wit already, and I'd like to work it into my writing. I'll have to think about it.
  2. The Cult Status of Michael Moorcock, I only heard about Michael Moorcock in the past few years. As far as I'm concerned that is part of what make's him so cool, that and his books are some of the best fantasy I have ever read. That and nearly all the books I own from him are out of print things I found in used book stores, and I'd really like to be one of those writers you can only find in used bookstores because that's were all the cool ones are.
  3. The Mystical-Spiritual Leanings of William Blake, I'd like to write stuff that is really profound, kind of surreal and dosn't make that much sense. Again, this is a problem because the majority of my work at the moment seems to be leaning towards prose and when your dealing with philosophy in prose you have to be careful not to make it seem to much of a social commentary. I guess I could read some Ayn Rand and see how she worked her philosophy into her novels, and if it gets the effect I want I'll use that style. Mind you, I have a few problems with Ayn Rand and Objectivism which I will not go into at this moment.
  4. The female-fan base of Neil Gaiman, Now, this may be all speculation on my part, but I have picked up that there is a strong female fan base for Neil Gaiman. I don't know if he actually got writer groupies, or if this is just a delusion me and several other teenage males who desire to be fiction writers dream off, but either way, if it does lead to something like that
  5. The Weirdness Factor of Grant Morrison, I have yet to read The Invisibles, but I swear to God I will buy every copy. I've read the thing on it on Wikipedia and it sounds immensilly weird and cool, and just the sort of thing I would like to write. I don't know if I'd actually believe the crazyness I write, which Grant Morrison does, but I would still write crazy cool stuff like that.
  6. The Stephen-Kingness of Stephen King, I don't know what it is, but I want to write something like the Dark Tower series and something like The Stand. I don't know what it is, but everything I've read by him I like.
