Smoke and Mirrors

In history class we are doing a project in which we take on the roles of historical figures or some sort of person. I’m doing St. Francis of Assisi. He is a very interesting person.
I am reading Smoke and Mirrors, a collection of Short Stories by Neil Gaiman. They are very good short stories. The last one I read was about this writer, who I think of as Neil Gaiman because it dosn’t actually say who he is, and he’s just written a novel that has been picked up by a movie company in L.A. and he spends most of his time being very confused and not understanding what’s going on with the movie, and at the hotel he is at he meets this old guy who was working for the hotel in the 1920's and knew all these famous movie stars including this one lady who is practically forgotten about ecsept for the old man. And there are all these people telling him versions of John Belushi’s death, but he always died with two other people and they are never the same people. It was a very good story. It is called The Goldfish Pool And Other Stories.

First Post of the New Year

I meant to make a post seven days ago, but I didn’t get around to it. Sorry, sorry.
Anyway, I’m doing fine know. I’m going to write this whole thing as a stream of consciousness and then go to be because it is really late. I went to get my passport for my Italy and Greece tour. It was rather dull, but then I went to the Chapters and got some new books. I got a Dungeons and Dragons magazine, and it is really interesting. I also got a book by Harry Turtledove and a collection of short stories by Neil Gaiman.
In about a week I’m going to see if my Dungeons and Dragons group can get started. I’m thinking about using the Dungeons and Dragons blog as a sort of a campaign diary, probably write some stuff from my characters perspective. I hope that the people I got will appreciate the story line I’m putting into this. There is going to be a very in-depth storyline, I’d like to go on a sort of side campaign to get some items for my own character, but I don’t think it would be fair to the other character. I have this whole other story line for my character. I’d go into it, but I think that I’ll wait until I get the blog up and running.
I may do something like this for all the campaigns I do, make like blog journals of it. I could see if I could get the other people to get in on this. I don’t know if they will, however. Personally, after I get this campaign done I’d like to do a game with another type of character (not a half-elf sorcerer/bard). I’m thinking maybe a Barbarian, I’ve got optional rules for a Barbarian that rides a horse in the magazine I got. I may also try a Wizard, Monk or Druid. I also plan on recreating the Nezumi Rouge character I hade as a sort of avatar for Ralph as soon as I can get my hands on a copy of Oriental Adventures.

Anyway, Christmas. I hade a really good Christmas. I got an MP3 player and I’m going to take it with me to Italy and Greece, so I don’t have to lug around a collection of CDs. I also got a thing called a Buddha Board. The deal with a Buddha Board is that you got this little box and you fill it with water and prop this board in the little slots on it and you paint stuff on it and watch it disappear. It is pretty cool and is based on some Zen concept. I didn’t get any books, but I got money to go to the Book Vault, which is a local bookstore and got the second volume of the Bone series, three comic books for the graphic novelization of Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere and the first three books of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, which I have heard off. I also got a lot of clothes, a bar of chocolate that has been eaten, a page-a-day calendar, a reading light and some new incense sticks to burn. I like burning incense. It smells nice.

Christmas Eve

It’s Christmas Eve. All my imaginary friends are here, which is strange because I don’t think any of them are christian. Naos was brought up Jewish and Hanukkah is starting tomorrow, but other then that it’s just my family and me.
Anyway, today I got up at about nine and spent most of the day just fiddling around. I went to church today. I just got back in a few minutes in fact. We are going to open our presents from each other, and I understand that my parents are giving us clothing. The Santa Claus presents are going to be tomorrow. Let’s hope he supplies the Dungeons and Dragons Books.
On another note, my little sister Sprite brought up the fraise "Zero is Hero. First is Worst,". I don’t like this frace because it makes me feel uncomfortable. It sounds like she is trying to be confrontational and I don’t like that. It is very mean.

the 200th Post

Okay, There have been a lot of important events in the last few days. For one thing, my educational assistant who will be called Nanny Ogg after the Discworld character came to visit me awhile back. She is sick and is being replaced by two other women, one for communications technology and another one for math. I really miss Nanny Ogg, because she brings a sort of order to my life at school. These new lady’s are nice, but they aren’t as tough as Nanny Ogg and don’t have her experience at dealing with me, which is really hard. They don’t pair her nearly enough. She should be getting like sixty-thousand dollars or something. I miss her.
Technically the last day of school is tomorrow, but they are just throwing some big hockey and assembly thing and I don’t really care for that. So I stayed home. For the first bit I went to the Library, got some movies (Seven Samurai, seasons three and four of Blackadder and a thing on the Lost Tribes of Israel), I also got some interesting books to read over my vacation. For the most part I’ve just screwed around on the Internet all afternoon and complained to no one in particular about a cold hand.
This is the 200th post I have made on my blog and in a few days I will be reaching my first full year of blogging. It will be a joyous occasion indeed. I have also failed three other independent blogs, including the RPG one that is still up because Ruric (under the identity of Korzio) commented once and I havn’t heard from him since. I may use it to catelog campaigns, such as the one that my group is going to do in January, if things are alright with everyone.

What you missed

Okay, I’ve been feeling pretty bad over the last few days. Emotionally, that is. I blame my stupid Samurai Essay, which is finally done...
(Villagers come out and dance around a maypole, "Safety Dance," by Men Without Hats starts playing and the Heavens open up to reveal a choir of angels opening up to "You Can’t Always Get What You Want," by the Rolling Stones)
...Yeah, that’s how I feel.

Anyway, before I felt all nice I was in a great deal of stress with this essay. I talked it over with my parents and it eventually lead to how I don’t like the position my life is in right know. My dad said that I shouldn’t worry about it and that I don’t need to know what my life will actually be until a few more years. Naturally, I told him I was going to be a writer. Dad replied to this by saying that I should do something else because writing is something that doesn’t pay well or something. Then he said that I should do it because I enjoy writing.
See, I’m not sure that I enjoy writing. I guess on some level I do, maily the bit were I get it done and I don’t have to worry about it anymore. I really need to think about this more.

Anyway, yesterday I went to my Dad’s family Christmas Dinner. I got Napoleon Dynamite and Gattaca on DVD. That’s all.

Celebreties and Religion

Yesterday, because there was nothing else interesting on, I watched a thing about celebrities and the religions they follow. It was really one of those things that you watch and think, oh my God I can’t believe I am watching this. Anyway, seeing this program I saw a lot of things that I felt were wrong in the spiritual sense.
First, I learnt about something called Kabbalah water. It’s basically water that has been blessed by Kabbalic Rabbi’s. Which is okay, but what really unnerves me is that it is two-thousand dollars. I really don’t think that’s a good idea for the Jewish religion to be attached to something like that. I mean it’s the jews for God’s sake. They have a stereotype for this kind of thing. They should be steering away from this kind of stuff.
Second, I learned that Christina Agulera went on a "pilgrimage" to India. I’m okay with pilgrimages to India, I plan on doing it myself some day, I just don’t think what Ms. Agulera did counts as a pilgrimage counted because she stayed at a five star hotel with a personal valet and visited the various temples during the day. The chances of Christina Agulera reading my blog are slim to nil, but by some amazing chance that she is reading this THAT IS NOT A PILGRIMAGE, THAT IS TOURISM. A REAL PILGRIMAGE INVOLVES STAYING IN MONASTERIES OVERNIGHT WITHOUT ANY SERVANTS OR ANYTHING. If you know Christina Agulera, please pass my message on.

Thirdly, Jesus head medallions. See, I don’t think Jesus would be into medallions in the shape of his head made out of solid gold, diamonds and rubies and shit like that. He wasn’t that in the riches and stuff and I just don’t think it’s right to have Jesus head medallions. Can’t rappers settle with a normal crucifix like everyone else? I don’t even think these guys are Christian as much as they wear crosses incrusted with diamonds. I don’t wear a cross, but if I did it wouldn’t be that prominent. Sure I’d wear it outside, but you wouldn’t be able to see it from across the street. If I wanted that I would wear a Jesus is my homey T-shirt.

Okay, that’s it. I also learned what Scientology is. It’s basically gnostism in space.

Live from CommTech, it's frustrated ranting

I HATE PEOPLE TODAY!!!!!!!
Except for Steph, I found out she commented on a post and I like it when she makes comments. But people in general are stressing me out. I’m not having a praticularly good day. I couldn’t concentrate in Latin class, I kept looking out the window and there isn’t really anything interesting out there.
Anyways, I am writing this in my communications technology class, and I am very angry indeed. Nor for any particular reason as much as I am having an emotionally turbulent day. I just feel grumpy and ornery. Latter I’ll probably get some pictures for a website I’m working on for Communications Technology. It’s nothing important as much as a way of putting together all the stuff we’ve done.
I’m going to go know and see if I can get the stupid webpage done.

The First Draft and Dracula

Because I don’t feel I blog enough, I shall blog today.
I handed in the first draft of the Samurai essay in history class today. I still need to add some stuff to it, notably filler for a few more pages, notably on The history of the Samurai and their effect on the modern world. It’s due pretty soon, but I think if I really buckle down I can finish it.
In other news, I am reading Bram Stocker’s Dracula. I got it at the public library and it is a very interesting read so far, even though I have barely read one chapter.

That’s it. I have to do the dishes now. I’ll come up with something important later.

Things that are going on

It has been a long day. I have spent most of it writing the first draft for my Samurai essay in history class. It was very exhausting, but I plan on working on a new short story sometime later today. It’s all a matter of coming up with a new idea. A really good one comes to mind and I plan on getting to work on it soon.
A major event in the outside world is the Chronicles of Narnia movie coming out. As a child I was very found of the Narnia series and it was one of the original blue prints of Mythania, my fantasy world, but thru several revisions it has adapted a less traditional fantasy universe and the only remaining Narnia-like creatures are the tawaze, which are basically giant mice.
So, Christmas is coming. I like presents, I’m pretty excited. Considering that Christmas is supposed to be a religious holiday I should probably look on it with a more religious outlook. But I’m not all that religious. I also like the fact that I don’t have to go to school, because it is getting rather annoying recently.

It's been awhile since I (da da da da da) found time to blog again

Well, the biggest thing to happen was my friend Loncrow came over for the weekend. He brought the new Soulcaliber 3 game. We got to make our own characters and I used characters I made up such as Ar’ado Mahmoud and Callager. You probably don’t know them, but they will be in my works somewhere. Probably a series of comic books (whoops, graphic novels) that I plan on working on. You can expect Jesus, Emperor Norton the 1st and a parody of Cerebus the Aardvark and his creator Dan Sims. That is if he’s okay with it, and if I actually talk to him about it. Considering he lives on his own in isolation I doubt it.
Anyway, I have a new book that I used the last of my birthday money on. It is the first volume of the Bone series by Jeff Smith. It is a graphic novel about these three guys named Fone Bone(the every man hero), Phoney Bone (an ex-millionaire who schemes his way thru most of the series) and Smily Bone (a less-intelligent version of Groucho Marx). They are all chased out of their home in Boneville because of an unsuccessful campaign by Phoney and find themselves outside of charted territory and in a mysterious valley. They are quickly brought into an epic battle between good and evil. It is one of the best books I have ever read. I rank the series with Hyperion, Otherland and the Dark Elf Trilogy as books that I really loved.

STREAM OF THOUGHT!!!!! THOUGHT OF STREAM!!!!! STREAM OF THOUGHT!!!!! THOUGHT OF STREAM!!!!!

Well, the most recent event that comes to mind is today in math class. Some kid who will go by the name Shaka for reasons that will soon become clear to you said he was a Zulu. For those of you that don’t know, Zulu’s are a tribe in South Africa known for there warrior culture. I don’t believe he is a Zulu, mainly because he is white, and he doesn’t have a South African accent. I didn’t bother him about it, because you don’t disagree with someone who is delusional. I should know, I am delusional.

On the subject of putting people in the categories of black and white and Chinese and all that, I think we should get rid of it. I also think we should stop calling people African-American and Japanese-American and native-American. African-Americans can keep that if they like, but they aren’t really African since they weren’t born there, but they can still call themselves that if they want to. I think we should just call everybody humans or people.
On the subject of the word Native-American, I think we should just call them by their respective tribes, since America is not really an idea created by the Aztecs, Navaho (sorry if I’m not spelling that right), Sioux or Cree, as much as a European concept. I’ve never actually met a member of the various tribes of the original inhabitants of North America, at least not to my knowledge, so I’m probably not an expert on this, but this is just what I think.

I don’t remember if I told you about this in the last post, but I’m going to do it anyway. Last weekend, I got two new books at the Chapters in a near-bye major city. I got Anansi Boys, by Neil Gaiman. Anansi Boys is a good book, and is not as dark as some of Neil Gaiman’s other works. I’m starting to wonder if I’m not just reading his book because I just here he’s really good. I really liked Neverwhere though, that’s a good sign. The other book was about the Chronicles of Narnia. I have another book that is basically the same format as this one about Lord of the Rings. It had a back article that talked about some of the controversy of the Chronicles of Narnia. Apparently C.S. Lewis had racist tendencies. In one of his books he used a racial slur (one of the Narnia books, don’t know which one) and he agreed with his brother that he didn’t agree that the Chinese were actually human. This is just crazy and somewhat disillusioning. First H.G. Wells, now C.S. Lewis. Anyway, it’s a good thing he’s dead know, because if we met we would probably end up being pried apart by the other writers over my portrayal of Jesus in one of my comic books, or Naos or something. Probably be pretty funny though, after we all had sometime to cool off. I don’t think C.S. Lewis was a violent man, but we would probably end up yelling at each other at the most.
Anyway, this has been my thought process. On another note, I would like to know how Steph underlined her post. I don’t seem to have that command.

I may have SAD

I’ve been feeling depressed (not at the moment mind you, just in general). Because of that I went to see the help office, and the lady there said that I may have SAD (seasonal affection disorder), which means I get all down during the winter because there isn’t enough sun. She said I should get more sun and eat Chocolate. I believe that this will be a good idea, especially the chocolate.
On another note, while doing Latin in the library when the fire drill went. I quickly picked up my book and writing material like I always do, and went outside. Then a fire truck came up and firefighters went inside. It was kind of interesting, I was glad that I hade my books with me, so they wouldn’t burn. It turned out to be a false alarm and we went back to normal. I was hoping we could go home.

FAN MOVIES!

Good day for a post. I’m listening to an archived copy of Little Steven’s Underground Garage. It’s a great radio program with all this killer music from the sixties and Garage Rock (which is anything Little Steven says it is, in case you were wondering) You got to check this out. Go to you won’t be sorry.
Well, I have spoken of 8 bit theatre. It is a Final Fantasy parody, well the creator of the series Brian Clevinger made attempts of putting it into Flash Cartoon format, but by the time he gets the series done Final Fantasy XXXXXXVI will be out, so me and some guys at school thought that it would be a good idea to make a film version of the 8 bit theatre. I’m pretty sure it’s legal if we don’t try to make a profit out of it. I have called dibs on Red Mage, because Red Mage rocks, and I get cool lines such as "Give me an hour and I’ll be able to sail this ship into ORBIT!!" Also, when acting I have a tendency to smile, and Red Mage has a high neck-collar or something that covers his mouth.
My little sister is driving me crazy. She’s trying to get onto the computer, but I’m not quite finished. She also has some friends over, and that always makes her super hyper.

Pros of humanity and Laying the foundations for a D&D group

It has been an emotional roller-coaster ride, so things are pretty much normal.
I talked to my dad about my occasional concentrations of anger brought on by human stupidity. He says that I should concentrate on the positives of humanity and not the negatives. To be honest it sounded a little corny when he said it, but I still took it kind of serious. This is a list of the positives of humanity.

• Humanity has produced several pacifists, such as Gandhi, Jesus, Martin Luther King Jr and the current Dalia Lama. This is a goo thing.
• I’m human, so if my species produced me they can’t be all bad. Yes, I know how arrogant this sounds.
• Humans have created everything in life I enjoy such as Science-Fiction Books, Dungeons and Dragons, Stargate SG-1, Farscape and Art. All these things could not exist without humanity.

Okay, I have come to a conclusion. I like humans, I just don’t like them bugging me.
In other news, I am creating a new Dungeons and Dragons group. So far I have recruited the two guys who showed me the pirate quiz. (I’m sorry it didn’t work out that well, go to and take it there). I see two major obstacles. First, I need to make a map, Second, my little sister will want to play (Sprite) and it will be kind of embarrassing having my little sister around. She’s really going to want to play, and when she won’t she’ll cry and it will be all awkward.
Anyway, that has been my life so far. Sorry I havn’t made any comments.

I've got a kick-ass new nickname

Again, I’m sorry that I haven’t blogged in the last few days. This is probably bothering me the most. I wonder why? Ah well. Here’s what’s happening.

I'm sorry. I know I should have blogged sooner. I have choclates.

Well, it is today, so I will start with what happened to me today. I got Latin and Math homework, I figure I can do them both with great ease. What’s really bugging me is this crick in my neck.
My birthday was pretty good. I got a Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting that is sitting not so far away from me. I also got the Map Folio for Dungeons and Dragons and fifty dollars I used to by Stream of Silver and The Halfling’s Gem, by R.A. Salvatore and Ilium and Olympos by Dan Simmons. Ilium and Olympus are both hard covers, but I got them for cheep. I also got a gift certificate for Chapters. For all you Americans out there, Chapters is Canada’s equivalent to Barnes and Noble.

Remembrance Day was a while ago. I don’t like Remembrance Day. I haven’t ever liked it since I was a kid. It just seemed to depressing then. Now, I just don’t like the entire concept. To start with, I am against nationalism, since it isn’t doing anything good for humanity, and Remembrance Day is a way of celebrating nationalism by saying how great it is to have freedom. I’m not saying that freedom is good, but I am also asking do we know what freedom is. What is freedom really anyway? I’ll do an excruciatingly long blog entry on it some time. That and I hate the entire concept of war, there is no real reason to it, and it is always going on. While I prefer chaos, war goes onto an entirely new level of chaos. War is legalized lawlessness. People are killed it wars. Do the self-appointed gods of the nations realize this. I’m going into beatnik mode, sorry. I just don’t like this. I had to go home after Lunch because I was so unhappy.
Whoa. That’s it.

ONE MORE DAY, ONE MORE DAY, ONE MORE DAY (happy noice)

I’m really excited about my upcoming birthday, mainly because of the presents. Yes, I know that is greedy but that’s how I am when Christmas or my birthday comes around. I’m just excited about getting gifts.
Or money to get gifts with. My father’s parents came over last night. We had a really good meal with pork and mashed potatoes and corn and gravy. Just like Thanksgiving or Christmas. I love dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas because we crack out the turkey and my personal favourite, stuffing. We didn’t have stuffing but it was still good. I also got a funny greeting card that had Snoopy and Woodstock in front of a computer that said "We would have gotten you an e-mail but we didn’t know were to put the stamp." For a gift I got a 50 dollar bill because it’s harder and harder to find a gift for me.

Okay, hmm. What else is happening. I’ve had to deal with human stupidity for most of the day. People have just been getting on my nerves. We were listening to the radio in Math class and a U2 song came up, Sunday Bloody Sunday, and I said "That’s a U2 song," because I do that. Then this guy said that it was Green Day. I don’t have anything against Green Day myself. I love their newest album American Idiot, but I knew that it was U2, and I told him that he was wrong and the band was U2. He continued to insist that it was Green Day, despite the fact that it didn’t sound like Green Day in anyway. Well, the proverbial straw broke the camel’s back and I insulted humanity’s intelligence level. I know that humans are not really as stupid as I usually say they are, but they can be down right frustrating. Was it not Doctor Who who said "A blue box appears in the middle of town and what do humans do? They ignore it." Or something like that.
Anyway, it’s good to finally be home. Plan on relaxing for the rest of the day. At least once I’m done my math homework.

So for the past two days I’ve been at home with a sore throat. It’s not that bad. I got some reading done. Did some notes on my D&D setting, waited in giddy anticipation for my upcoming birthday. Stuff like that. I figured I shod have worked more on my short stories, but I just can’t get myself to do it. I guess I’ll do some of it tonight.
I plan on calling Loncrow to see if he can come over this weekend. That’s all about that.

In other news related to my writing. It goes on at a snail’s pace. I have two short stories on the go and I haven’t been putting much effort into either of them. While I have come up with some good ideas for short stories I don’t have the drive to do write them, or finish what I’m writing. Creativity isn’t an issue for me, I can come up with all kinds of worlds. An alternate history were Alexander the Great’s Empire stayed in power, A Fantasy setting based on Africa inhabited by a cursed warrior-mage who can only come out at night and is running a personal vendetta against a corrupt trade-empire, the life and times of a changeling child brought up among humans who has survived to the present day and his encounters with historical figures such as St. Patrick, William Wallace, Marco Polo, Saladin, Shakespeare, Queen Elizabeth the 1st, The founding fathers of America, Emperor Norton the 1st, Robert A. Heinlein and Albert Einstein. A superhero with a combination of Aspergers Syndrome, Telekenis and a really messed up childhood at a residential boarding school that makes him the most powerful and feared being in the western hemisphere. I have come up with this, granted the Alexander thing might have been a little obvious, but I’d like to see what would have happened if Alexander the Great concurred the entire world.Even so, I am a storehouse of ideas. I just lack the drive. Wait, no simply writing about my ideas makes me want to put them down and see them in print. Hm, guess I do have drive.

I have decided that if I’m going into Graphic Novelization, I want to draw the pictures for them. I have clear ideas of what I want them to look like and I don’t want people making pictures of them that aren’t right. I do like drawing the stuff that I read in a comic book, so it could be fun. My school library has a few graphic novels and I’ve been looking at the pictures. I really like the guy who dose the art for Sandman and Swamp Thing.

I have also trying out poetry. I think it has something to do with reading Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion, since John Keats is a major character. This gave me the idea on getting a book with some of Keat’s poetry and I thought "Hey, why don’t I right some of this," I haven’t written anything yet, but I may still get around to doing it.
